Double Barrel is a documentary film that follows Peruvian surf guide Harold Koechlin’s plight to protect Peru’s world-class surf breaks, working with the local community to turn an oil-dominated north coast village into a truly sustainable surf town. The community initiative project that the film is helping to create is known as The Lobitos Project.
Lobitos is trying to revive from a crumbling ghost town to a sustainable village. Despite its raw beauty and world-class surf, the town is crippled with abandoned buildings, oil drills, dangerous open pits, sewerage and waste management problems, and general poverty.
